Healthy living and mental wellbeing are integral to life at the Family of Schools.
Our schools believe that developing positive attitudes to our bodies, minds, exercise and competition are essential.
At Jack & Jill Nursery & Reception School we place huge importance on teaching physical and mental wellbeing, with Nursery children enjoying a daily P.E. lesson taught by our specialist P.E teachers, as well as regular afternoon ballet lessons.
From Reception, girls have weekly P.E and dance lessons, with swimming introduced in Year 2. Mental wellbeing is an integral part of our PSHE curriculum, with girls taught practical ways to maintain positive mental health – good sleep, plenty of exercise, talking about their feelings and reading as much as possible, as well as strategies that they can apply when faced with challenges.
‘Grit is passion and perseverance for long-term goals’ (Angela Duckworth)
At Clarence House Preparatory School, we introduce the concept of grit. C.H.P.S. learn the keys to being happy and successful:
- Resilience
- Hard work
- Setting yourself short- and long-term goals
- Responding to your coach or teacher
- Remaining stoical when faced with challenges.
Our pupils learn about the great Stoic thinkers – Epictetus, Seneca, Marcus Aurelius – and the lives of Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela.
A healthy body can help us maintain a healthy mind. Pupils enjoy physical exercise every day, taught by subject specialists. This includes football, rugby, dance, athletics, gymnastics and swimming.
All pupils, regardless of ability, have the opportunity to represent their school in competitive fixtures.
We work for working parents
