Children leaving our nursery are excited by and well prepared for the challenges of their Reception year. The majority of the girls will move into our own Reception class, based on the same site at Twickenham, where they have seen and interacted with previous years’ Reception classes and aspired to be one of the ‘big girls’. The boys either move on to local state schools or those in the independent sector, especially our ‘brother school’, The Mall, where we maintain close contact with them through regular joint enterprises and activities.

We have excellent links with local state schools and ensure a thorough transition for children moving there by sharing reports and meeting with the Reception class teachers prior to a child joining.

Due to the accelerated maths and literacy curriculum in our nursery, children joining their Reception classes do so with confidence and strong self-esteem which underpins a very successful first year of formal schooling.
